Public Education

To help fulfill our mission statement we provide numerous free training opportunities to the public.

Fire Extinguisher Training

We offer Fire Extinguisher training to businesses within our coverage area. Contact Captain Mark Miller via phone 419-289-6511 or email for scheduling and further information.

Safety Lectures

We are more than happy to preform a fire safety speech at your home, business, classroom, or event. We can adapt this speech to the correct age and circumstances as needed. We can even bring apparatus (fire trucks, ambulances, etc.) if manpower allows. Please contact the fire station for scheduling and further information.

Infant and Child Car Seat Installation and Inspection

The Ashland Fire Department has multiple Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians. They have completed 40 hours of instruction, practical evaluation, and continuing education. The technicians are available to demonstrate proper car seat installation and to inspect your infant/child car seat. Please contact the fire department at 419-289-6511 and ask to speak to a car seat technician to schedule an appointment or to ask questions regarding your child's car seat.

CPR / First Aid Training

We currently offer American Heart Association CPR certification/re-certification, and first aid training. We have classes the second and fourth Wednesday of every month, starting at 6:00 pm located at the fire station. We try to limit these classes to 10 people so we have the appropriate student to instructor ratio. Please contact the Fire Department and ask to speak to a CPR Instructor to schedule your time. If you need a larger class, or a different time please contact Captain Tony Coletta via phone 419-289-6511 or The division reserves the right to cancel any class with less than 24 hours of notice. If this happens we will attempt to reschedule the course if possible.

These classes are free of charge, but donations are accepted.
