MISSION STATEMENT |
The Community Improvement Corporation of Ashland, Ohio advances, encourages and promotes the industrial, economic, commercial, educational and civic development of the City of Ashland and Ashland County in whatever way and by such means as will improve the normal growth, employment opportunities, stability of employment in existing industry, advance the industrial, commercial and educational life of the community and to stabilize the general economy of the area.

OVERVIEW |
The Community Improvement
Corporation of Ashland County, Ohio is a 501 (c) (3) organization.
The powers of a CIC are outlined under Ohio Revised Code §1724.02 The
structure of the CIC is essential for Ashland’s economic development efforts.
The CIC is able to
· Purchase/sell and lease land and buildings for industrial
or business purposes.
· Purchase improved or unimproved real estate for the
purpose of constructing or preparing industrial sites.
· Borrow money, issue bonds or notes and make loans to
entities who are not able to secure loans from a conventional financial source.
· Serve as an agent for grant applications.
These topics are highlighted
because other economic development organizations in Ashland are not able to
perform some of these tasks. The CIC
also finances many projects and marketing initiatives.
The CIC has served Ashland County since it was incorporated in 1964. The board includes 30 members from local government, utilities, financial institutions and local business.

CURRENT INITIATIVES |
· I-71 Interchange
The CIC is
currently working with Ashland University, the City and County of Ashland and
the Ohio Department of Transportation to improve the aesthetics of the I-71
interchange.
· Marketing Materials
The CIC is
supporting several of the Economic Development Department’s projects which
focus on marketing the Ashland area.
· Ashland Railway
The CIC
continues to monitor rail needs and operations.
· Creative Financing The CIC is
exploring ways to increase the Ashland area’s business incentives and
resources.
