Biographical Information City of Ashland Finance Director
Anna Marie Tomasek CPFA CPFIM OCPM
On March 1, 2006 Anna M. Tomasek was
appointed as the City Finance
Director by Mayor Strine and approved by Ashland City Council. Anna has
been with the City of Ashland since November 26, 2001 as Director of
Accounting.
Tomasek's educational background consists
of a Bachelor of Science in
Political Science/Public Policy Management from the University of Akron
and a master's in Public Administration/Public Financial Management
from the University of Kentucky.
Tomasek began her public service career
eleven years ago with the City
of Akron as an intern for the Clerk of Council; while finishing her
undergraduate studies. In 1999, Anna began working for the City of
Upper Arlington on a special project implementing Performance
Measurements in budgeting for the Finance Division. Tomasek has over
eight years of experience in public finance management and income tax
collections.
Community Involvement:
Tomasek has lived in Ashland since April
of 2002. She stays active in the community by participating in the
following Ashland
County organizations: Treasurer of Ashland County Council on Alcoholism
and Drug Abuse, 2003 graduate of Leadership Ashland, Treasurer of
Ashland County Bicycling Association, Kiwanis Club of Ashland, Ashland
United States Bowling
Congress WBS, Ashland County Farm Bureau, Ashland Area Choir, American
Hiking Society and a member of First Christian Church.
Professional Memberships:
Tomasek is a member of the National and
the Ohio
Association of Public Treasurers (APT) and is on the National APT
committees of membership and certification program. Anna is the
Chairperson for the National APT committee of disaster preparedness.
For Ohio Association of Public Treasurers, Anna is a Board of
Directors. She is a member of the National and Ohio Chapter of the
Government Finance Officers Association since 2001. Tomasek is a member
of the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). From 2001-2005,
Anna served as Secretary of North Central Ohio Association of Municipal
Finance Officers. Currently, Anna is serving as President for the
North Central Ohio Association of Municipal Finance Officers.

Certified Public Financial Administrator-2005 from the National Association of Public Treasurers.
Certified Public Financial Investment Manager-2008 from the National Association of Public Treasurers.
Ohio Certified Public Manager-2008 State of Ohio.
