Bicycle
Patrol Program
The Ashland Police Division Bicycle patrol was started in 2000.
This program has placed Officers on Mountain bikes in the
community on
regular patrol duty.
The
Division currently has six officers trained and outfitted.
They serve on all shifts and in all areas of the City.
Public
opinion of Officers on bikes is positive. The
high visibility of the patrol and the accessibility to the Officers
benefit the
community because it fosters a sense of safety and mutual trust between
the
police and the public.
The
Officers also participate in a variety of Community activities such as:
Two day bike safety class at Trinity Lutheran Church |
Six different 5k runs
throughout the community |
Block parties |
Bike rodeo at Balloonfest |
Parades |
Law Enforcement torch run |
