Ashland Police Division

Uniform Patrol

As in most Police agencies, the uniform road patrol is the backbone of the organization.  The majority of our uniformed officers work within this unit.  It is made up of three shifts: 11:00pm to 7:00am; 7:00am to 3:00pm; and 3:00pm to 11:00pm. Each shift is under the direct supervision of a Lieutenant and a Sergeant and 3 to 5 patrol officers are assigned to each shift.  In addition, one officer is assigned to an overlap shift of 7:00pm to 3:00am to cover our busiest hours.

The uniform patrol provides basic police coverage to the Community.  When a citizen places a call to the Police Division, a uniform patrol officer will handle the call for service.

The uniform patrol is responsible for:

Enforcement of criminal laws

Traffic accident investigation

Enforcement of traffic laws

Handling initial calls for service

Community outreach
