2008 Yard Waste Program

To Start April 9, 2008

The City of Ashland is trying to reach as many residents as possible with information pertaining to Yard Waste Collection.  Listed below are the specifics regarding the Yard Waste Collection Program. Please read carefully.

Starting April 9, 2008, the City of Ashland will start their yard waste collection for this year. The City will NO LONGER  supply 30 gallon bio bags for the collection and removal of yard waste. You may purchase Yard Waste Bags from Home Hardware, Home Depot, or Walmart.  You MUST  purchase stickers  for these bags in order to have your bags picked up.  The stickers cost $1.00 each and you may purchase them  at the Water and Sanitation billing office at 211 Claremont Avenue.  Only yard waste will be accepted in these bags: i.e. grass clippings, leaves, flowers, hedge trimmings and small branches an inch or less in size. Only bags with City issued stickers  will be collected.  No stones, dirt, building material, plastic or other trash will be accepted.

The City will collect the yard waste bags every Wednesday, for the entire city. Please note; they will pick up the yard waste bags on a Wednesday following a Monday holiday.  The City will NOT be divided into two sections.  Collection will continue through the fall.

Even with this program, the City does encourage individual composting and mulching whenever possible.
