Spring Clean Up

Each spring, the Sanitation Department of the City of Ashland offers "Spring Clean Up" to residents. This service provides an opportunity for city residents to put out larger items for pick up at no additional charge. The dates given may need to be adjusted during the Spring Clean Up event depending upon weather conditions and the volume of material to be picked up. 2021 Spring Schedule:

WEEK 1 (April 5-9)
Starting with both sides of Cleveland Ave/ Middle Rowsburg Rd (not including Cleveland Ave North of Middle Rowsburg Rd) working to but not including Center Street

WEEK 2 (April 12-16)
Starting with Center Street, both sides, working to but not including W. Main Street. Includes all streets South side of W. Main St west of Broad Street

WEEK 3 (April 19-23)
Starting with West Main Street, both sides, working to but not including Orange Street/ Troy Road

WEEK 4 (April 26-30)
Starting with Orange Street/Troy Road, both sides, working to but not including Cleveland Ave/ Middle Rowsburg Road - Includes Cleveland Ave North of Middle Rowsburg Road

Guidelines and Schedules

The City will be divided into 4 quadrants for curbside pickup. Each section will be picked up in 1 week scheduled time frames from the 1st of April until the end of April. All items must be put to the curb by the first day of your section, regardless of your location in the section. All items put out after your week's scheduled pickup time will be charged pursuant to the large pickup charges.

Up to 3 cubic yards of material will be picked up free. There will be no fee for up to 3 cubic yards of material. 3 cubic yards is equal to an 8’ pickup, loaded to cab top. Additional amounts are charged at $8.00 per cycled hopper, which is one cycle of the rear sweep blade. Items must be reasonably handled by two adult persons and fit into the rear of the packer truck or hopper. Only approved items will be picked up. Items to be picked up are to be placed curbside. A complete schedule will be publicized, just prior to Spring Clean-up, and will be posted on the City website.

Freon

Items containing Freon, such as refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc. may be scheduled for pick up through the Sanitation Office, 419-289-9791.

All Freon containing lines must be intact and no components may be removed. If Freon containing lines are cut or components removed, the item will not be picked up.

Refrigerators and freezers must have doors removed before placing curbside.

Large Item Pickup

Large pickups may be scheduled through the Sanitation Office, 419-289-9791, at times other than Spring Cleanup. The rate of $8.00 per cycled hopper, which is one cycle of the rear sweep blade, applies for this service. Items must be reasonably handled by two adult persons and fit into the rear of the packer truck or hopper. Only approved items will be picked up. Items to be picked up are to be placed curbside.

CRT Monitors & Televisions

Televisions and CRT monitors should not be put out for Spring Clean Up due to the potential of broken glass on the streets.
