The City of Ashland has openings for a full-time Geographic Information Systems Technician in the Division of Engineering

What You'll Do:

  • Maintains GIS functionality in coordination with the information technology (IT) division.
  • Collects GIS data via data collectors, digitilizers, construction drawings and other means.
  • Reviews existing and collected data for accuracy and quality.
  • Updates GIS database and performs analysis as requested.
  • Produces managerial reports as requested.
  • Develops and applies GIS analytical solutions to meet department(s) needs.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to meet department(s) needs.
  • Performs field surveys for engineering design purposes.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous tasks in order to ensure the efficient delivery of GIS service.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Starting Wage: $24.00 plus $0.50 increase after 6 month probationary period

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:  

    An Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, planning or GIS related field or equivalent experience and/or education with a minimum of one (1) year of GIS related experience; Experience in ESRI environment including ArcGIS for Desktop Standard, ArcGIS Server and Microsoft SQL Server; GPS experience for data collection/transformation process; Basic knowledge of surveying and measurement; and/or equivalent education, training and experience.

  • Is "Dedicated to Service"
  • Has a valid Ohio Drivver's License and is eligible to drive City vehicles under our vehicle insurance policy
  • Is willing and able to learn and follow City policies and procedures
