The City of Ashland has an opening for Superintendent at our Water Treatment Plant. Michael Hunter, Director of City Utilities.
What You'll Do:
Plan and supervise the operation of the City's Water Treatment Plant (Plant), develop and implement policies and procedures as directed by the Director of City Utilities (the Director); ensure Plant operations meet all Ohio EPA standards, federal and state laws, city ordinances, rules, and regulations; conduct research and plans for future department needs; ensures the continuation of quality standards; etc.)
Review daily operational data, ensure equipment is safe and in good repair; confer with team to determine operational needs; order chemicals and supplies
Directly supervise an experienced workforce (organize, prioritize, and delegate routine tasks and special projects to team; assign work schedules; complete and submit timesheets; approves time off, etc); evaluates employee performance; train and coach employees; administer discipline if needed; follow-up closely on assigned tasks to ensure standards and schedules are met
Ensure team members are trained on OSHA, state and federal guidelines, City polices and procedures; make ongoing training and skills development a priority for self and staff
Prepare and maintain records, reports, and other documentation; sign and submit EPA reports
Regularly meet with the Director to discuss Plant needs and goals
Conduct Plant tours
Miscellaneous duties as assigned or required to ensure efficient Plant operation

Minimum Qualifications:
A combination of training and experience equivalent to: Completion of secondary education & some college, plus 5 years of experience with water or wastewater treatment plant operations. Additional supervisory, management, or leadership experience or training, preferred
Must possess a valid Class III Water Supply Operator's Certification from the State of Ohio, or the ability to obtain within a specified period of time
Must possess a valid Driver License from the State of Ohio
Must be insurable under the City’s vehicle insurance policy
