Fire Safety Lectures

We are more than happy to perform a fire safety speech at your home, business, classroom, or event. We can adapt this speech to the correct age and circumstances as needed. We can even bring apparatus (fire trucks, ambulances, etc.) if manpower allows. Please contact the fire station for scheduling and further information.

Infant and Child Car Seat Installation and Inspection

The Ashland Fire Department has multiple Child Passenger Safety Seat Technicians. They have completed 40 hours of instruction, practical evaluation, and continuing education. The technicians are available to demonstrate proper car seat installation and to inspect your infant/child car seat. Please contact the fire department at 419-289-6511 and ask to speak to a car seat technician to schedule an appointment or to ask questions regarding your child's car seat.

CPR / First Aid Training

We currently offer a number of different American Heart Association CPR certification, re-certification and first aid training courses. Due to COVID-19, classes held will utilize blended and eLearning. Students are encouraged to visit https://shopcpr.heart.org/all-products?aha_product_type=99 and purchase the appropriate course they need. After completion of the online portion, contact Ashland Fire at 419-289-6511, ask to speak with EMS Capt Tyler Smith or a CPR Instructor to set up a day and time for you to complete the hands-on skills test portion. Students who successfully complete the online course and skills session (sold separately), will receive a Heartsaver CPR AED Course Completion card, valid for two years.  All courses are provided at the Ashland Fire Station, 274 Cleveland Ave., Ashland, OH 44805. Please contact the Ashland Fire Department with any additional questions or concerns.

If you need to schedule a class for your business or group, please contact EMS Captain Tyler Smith at 419-289-6511 or email him at smith.tyler@ashland-ohio.com. The division reserves the right to cancel any class with less than 24 hour notice. If this should happen, we will attempt to reschedule if possible.

How does the 2020 Guidelines version of HeartCode differ from the 2015 Guidelines version of HeartCode?
The 2020 Guidelines HeartCode uses a personalized adaptive algorithm that sets students on the most efficient path to mastery. Students follow a continuously adapting learning path that is personalized by their own inputs: their performance, and their self- reported confidence level related to each probing question. The course content is presented in the form of self-directed learning content, probing questions, and Cognitive Assessment Activities (CAAs).
